Last March, Deadline reported that acclaimed horror director Mike Flanagan (pictured below), known for "Doctor Sleep," was in talks with DC Studios to direct a spin-off film centered on the Batman villain Clayface. While Flanagan initially denied the reports, the news has now been officially confirmed a year later. Variety recently reported that DC Studios has officially greenlit the "Clayface" movie project.

Variety revealed that "Clayface" is slated to begin filming early next year. Matt Reeves, director of "The Batman," will also serve as a producer through his production company, 6th & Idaho. However, the report did not specify whether "Clayface" will be set within the same universe as Reeves' "The Batman." Flanagan has long expressed interest in adapting Clayface, even tweeting (now X) three years ago about his desire to make a tragic horror film centered on the character. Today marks the official realization of his "Clayface" dream.
