Timed perfectly for its holiday season release, "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" has dropped a special stop-motion animated short. The festive special is also helmed by "Sonic" franchise director Jeff Fowler, with the film's voice cast returning to reprise their roles. Adam Pally, who plays Wade in the movies, also lends his voice to Santa Claus.

The story takes place during the Christmas holiday, as Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails celebrate their first Christmas together on Earth. After they accidentally injure Santa's ankle, the trio is forced to fill in and complete his gift delivery route. Once the mission is over and Santa is about to head back to the North Pole, they spot Shadow attempting to steal the sleigh. Shadow is annoyed that Santa asked Sonic—who can't even use Chaos Control—for help, and this is his form of revenge. Santa, however, is simply confused as to why Shadow would need his sleigh if he can already teleport.
