Veteran industry scooper Daniel Richtman shared several updates on his Patreon today regarding the development status of multiple Disney projects. First, on the Marvel Studios front, Richtman reports that the long-gestating "Nova" solo series will feature Annihilus as its main villain. Annihilus, often the lord of the Negative Zone, wields his Cosmic Control Rod to slow his aging and manipulate energy and matter. In the comics, he frequently clashes with the Fantastic Four and has also battled Nova.

Another Marvel series reportedly making progress is "Strange Academy," a spinoff of the "Doctor Strange" franchise. The show was previously rumored to be in the early conceptual stages, but Richtman now reports that it has officially moved into active development and is being fast-tracked. In the comics, Strange Academy is a school of magic founded by Doctor Strange, with students from all races and its own dedicated comic book series.

As for the "Star Wars" universe, the "Rogue Squadron" movie, first announced in 2020 with "Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins attached, is now back on track. The film has faced numerous production stalls since 2021 and was even pulled from the release schedule entirely in 2022. While a new release date has yet to be announced, this appears to be a promising turn of events.

However, with the good news comes some bad. While "Rogue Squadron" is being revived, another project announced years ago—the untitled and mysterious "Star Wars" film to be written and directed by Taika Waititi—has now reportedly been shelved indefinitely.
