Marvel's upcoming team-up film "Thunderbolts" tonight unveiled its first-look photos via Entertainment Weekly (EW). Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who returns as CIA Director Valentina, also spoke with EW, offering a few plot hints to audiences.
Louis-Dreyfus first assured that her role in "Thunderbolts" will be substantial, unlike her brief cameos in "Black Widow," "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," and "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," where she recruited members without revealing her true intentions. She stated, "This is entirely different. This film is an opportunity for me to truly explore Valentina, for audiences to really understand her capabilities, and even much of her backstory."

Louis-Dreyfus then teased, "You'll see her entire plan laid out [in the film]. There are many secrets and some unexpected twists, and they're all the best kind of twists." However, Louis-Dreyfus then seemed to clarify, suggesting that the plan revealed in the film might not be the complete picture: "Some of her initial plans will be unveiled, and you'll better understand why she behaves the way she does."
Louis-Dreyfus also described Valentina as power-hungry, seeing herself as a "Nick Fury"-esque leader. She believes she is the head of the Thunderbolts, envisioning herself as a master puppeteer, even if the team members don't necessarily acknowledge her leadership.

The film is directed by Jake Schreier, known for "Paper Towns." The cast also includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova (Black Widow), Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier), David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Lewis Pullman as Sentry. The film is set to open in North American theaters on May 2 next year.
