While making the awards season rounds for his new self-directed and starring film "A Real Pain," Jesse Eisenberg joined Dax Shepard's "Armchair Expert" podcast for an interview. In addition to discussing his new movie, the conversation inevitably turned to Eisenberg's past work, including "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Eisenberg, who played the main villain Lex Luthor, acknowledged that the reception for "Dawn of Justice" has always been polarizing, but the negative reviews had a particularly deep impact on him. "I was in this movie 'Batman v Superman,' and it was so critically reviled, and I was so reviled," he said. "I've never talked about this, and it's kind of embarrassing to admit, but I really feel like it deeply hurt my career, because I was so criticized for a movie that was so high-profile."

Eisenberg continued, explaining, "I've been in movies that have been criticized that are not high-profile, but this was so high-profile. I don't read any announcements, reviews, or entertainment news, so I was totally unaware of how intensely 'Dawn of Justice' was being criticized." While Eisenberg didn't specify the exact repercussions on his career, one can surmise it may have led to losing out on other film opportunities.
