The "S.H.MonsterArts" series, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., which combines exquisite monster sculpting with excellent articulation technology, today officially announced the latest product from "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah," the "Burning Godzilla (1995) 70th Anniversary Special Memorial Ver.," scheduled for release in July 2025.
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 1995 film "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah," Toho officially announced the launch of the "Burning Godzilla Year" project, which will successively release various merchandise featuring Burning Godzilla. In the film, a violent nuclear fission reaction caused by high-purity natural uranium in the Earth's strata led to the instantaneous disappearance of Godzilla's home, Birth Island. Godzilla's nuclear energy became abnormally active due to an abnormal homing instinct, causing his body temperature to continuously rise like a giant nuclear weapon. His scorching skin reached a super-high temperature "burning" state, and even the power of his atomic breath became stronger. However, his body temperature was approaching the critical meltdown temperature of 1200℃, bringing him to the brink of death.
The "S.H.MonsterArts Burning Godzilla (1995) 70th Anniversary Special Memorial Ver." is a modified version based on the initial release from 2012. Japan's foremost Godzilla sculptor, Yuji Sakai, was responsible for the prototype production and coloring, faithfully reproducing the suit's appearance from the film. At a height of 16 cm, it captures the powerful presence of the King of the Monsters. The overall color scheme has been re-adjusted based on the film's nighttime battle scenes, utilizing new colors and painting techniques to depict the glowing eyes and body surface.
The overall articulation mechanism continues the design by Mitsuhiko Hosokawa from that time, featuring precise articulation divisions and numerous joint parts, allowing for flexible posing without revealing internal component gaps. Accessories include a pair of interchangeable sculpted hands, crimson atomic breath effect parts, an atomic breath stand with flame detailing, and a newly designed "Godzilla 70th Anniversary LOGO Base."
