CDPR: 'The Witcher 4' Map Size Is 'Roughly Similar' to Wild Hunt, But 'Much Richer'

Following the debut trailer for the fourth installment in "The Witcher" saga, CD Projekt Red has been gradually sharing details about the protagonist, timeline, and its connection to the original novels. In a recent interview with Skill Up, Game Director Sebastian Kalemba also touched upon the new game's map size and quest volume.

As fans know, "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" featured a vast and rich game world, widely praised for its impressive and memorable side quests. When asked if the new title would maintain a similar scale in its map and quest count, Kalemba offered some insight.

"The map size is roughly similar to 'The Witcher 3,' and the same goes for the number of quests," Kalemba said. "Of course, I must emphasize that while the production scale is massive, the team's ambitions are also very high. After all, our top priority is to provide players with a compelling gaming experience."

"Therefore, we are absolutely sticking to the principle of quality over quantity. But of course, what we can promise is this: the new game will be quite large and, compared to anything we've made so far, it will be much richer."

While the exact setting for the next "Witcher" game remains unconfirmed, the initial trailer suggests a remote northern region. Gaming outlet TheGamer speculates this could place the story in locations like Redania, Creyden, Kovir, or Poviss. However, a CDPR producer has also indicated that the new installment is indeed heading into new territories.
