Japanese toy company TAKARA TOMY's "TOMICA" (トミカ/TOMICA) brand, known for its "DREAM TOMICA" (ドリームトミカ) series which features collaborations with popular franchises, has announced two new products from "Tom and Jerry." These are No. 160 "Tom and Jerry" (トムとジェリー) and the SP edition "Jerry and Tuffy" (ジェリーとタフィー)! They are scheduled for release on February 15, 2025, with a suggested retail price of 880 JPY each.
The "Tom and Jerry" animated series, created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, primarily features short stories centered around the duo's endless chases and mutual mischief. Tom meticulously devises various exaggerated tools to catch Jerry, but the clever and cunning Jerry always makes Tom suffer; of course, sometimes their roles are reversed, and Jerry gets a good beating from Tom. The animation's various mind-bending transformation sequences are also brilliant highlights, with imaginative scenes of destruction that always leave us in stitches and provide ultimate stress relief! However, Tom and Jerry occasionally cooperate and become good friends.
The mini cars brought to life in this DREAM TOMICA release feature Jerry and Tuffy sitting in cheese-shaped toy cars. In addition to showcasing a beautiful golden hue and the holes on the cheese surface, even the wheels are a cohesive golden color. What's incredibly interesting is that a standee can be installed at the back of the cheese toy car; the Jerry version comes with a miserable-looking Tom cat illustration, while the Tuffy version includes a bewildered Jerry mouse design, making them absolutely adorable~!
