The latest series in the Star Wars saga, "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" (hereinafter referred to as Skeleton Crew), finally launched on the Disney+ streaming platform in early December! Led by the handsome British actor Jude Law, the series tells a coming-of-age adventure story set after the fall of the Galactic Empire under the governance of the New Republic. Four teenagers from the remote and mysterious planet of At Attin accidentally board an abandoned starship, unexpectedly activating a Hyperspace jump that takes them to a wider world they've never known. There, they meet a mysterious man named Jod Na Nawood and begin their search for a way home. Although (so far) it doesn't have a direct connection to the familiar tales of Jedi and Sith clashing, observing this vast Star Wars universe from other perspectives (like those of rude and boorish pirates) offers its own unique fun. I believe this is the very characteristic that makes Star Wars so enduring and always gives fans something to talk about, isn't it?
In conjunction with the debut of this brand-new series, the internationally renowned toy manufacturer Hasbro has also launched action figures for "Skeleton Crew". The "The Black Series 6-Inch" line, known for its high fidelity and articulation, has taken the lead by releasing the six key characters from the show. So, without further ado, let's dive into this unboxing report and witness the charm of "Skeleton Crew" and The Black Series!
▼ Here are the six main characters. The side of the box features a character portrait, which not only allows them to be combined like a puzzle but also makes it convenient for collectors to identify them.
▼ "Jod Na Nawood", played by Jude Law, is a prisoner the protagonists encounter at the pirate-infested spaceport of Borgo. He acts mysteriously and can wield the Force. His true identity is the former pirate captain Silvo, and he also goes by many aliases such as Crimson Jack and Dash Zentin. He claims he will lead the four teenagers home, but is he acting out of pure goodwill, or is he scheming something else?
▼ The figure recreates Jod's in-show appearance in his long coat and comes equipped with a blaster pistol as an accessory.
▼ The head sculpt, which uses photo-real printing to reproduce Jude Law's facial features.
▼ It also includes a removable headscarf piece, allowing collectors to choose whether he wears it or not.
▼ The costume features a high level of detail in areas like the engraved patterns and the belt buckle. The coat also has gradient paint application in some areas, and the pistol can be stored in the holster on his waist.
▼ "At Attin, you say... now that's interesting."
▼ Utilizing the full range of articulation joints, both dynamic and static poses can be achieved with ease.
▼ How do you all like the character Jude Law is playing this time?
▼ "Neel (At Attin)", an elephant-like alien boy from At Attin. He comes from a happy family, has a gentle and kind personality, and is loyal to his friends. He is especially close with his neighbor Wim, and they often play together, making him the best friend who understands Wim the most.
▼ Just look at this delightful design! I'm sure everyone found him adorable at first sight, right?
▼ The head sculpt is a highly accurate recreation of his appearance in the show.
▼ It comes with accessories including a backpack, a flashlight, and a walkie-talkie.
▼ Despite his round shape, his articulation is still quite impressive, and he can hold all the small accessories.
▼ When it comes to exploration, a flashlight is an absolute must-have!
▼ The flashlight can be stored in the slot on the backpack.
▼ "Jedi One! Calling Jedi One!" Are you all really going to pass on this adorable little elephant?
▼ "Wim (At Attin)", played by Ravi Cabot-Conyers. Like Neel, he is a human boy who grew up on At Attin. He lives with his father and is fascinated by the legends of the Jedi, dreaming of one day breaking free from his environment to become a true, heroic Jedi Master.
▼ As expected from The Black Series, it's packed with incredible details all over.
▼ The head sculpt recreates Wim's signature curly afro hairstyle.
▼ It comes with a backpack and accessories like a wrench, a walkie-talkie, and a flashlight.
▼ "I'm going to become the King of the Jedi!!!!" (Fan-written line, Wim did not say this)
▼ He can also hold all the included accessories.
▼ Besides being inserted into the backpack, the flashlight can, of course, be held in his hand.
▼ "The exam is tomorrow." "What? I haven't even started studying!" Ah, that simple school life... so enviable and nostalgic (sips tea).
▼ The two buddies, ready to go excavate a Jedi Temple (or so they think), have no idea what's in store for them...
▼ "Fern", played by Ryan Kiera Armstrong. A human girl from At Attin who is an excellent student at school but also has a rebellious side, hoping to pursue a different kind of life. She lives with her mother Fara, a public official, and is always seen with her friend KB. Through a twist of fate, she ends up embarking on an uncertain galactic adventure with Wim and Neel.
▼ The figure recreates Fern's rebellious attire, which she wears out of her mother's sight.
▼ The head sculpt, which also uses photo-real printing to capture the facial features of actress Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
▼ The patches on her speeder-riding jacket are also precisely reproduced with printing.
▼ It comes with a backpack and a flashlight. The glorious "class first place" badge on the backpack has also been physically sculpted.
▼ Perhaps she's just putting on a brave face, or maybe she's trying to hide her true feelings. The character of Fern can't help but make us reminisce about our own rebellious years.
▼ "Well then, I'm your captain now!" Really hope The Black Series releases an SM-33 soon (taps on the table)!
▼ The flashlight can also be placed in the side pocket of the backpack. After all, it's essential for an adventure!
▼ "KB (At Attin)", played by Kyriana Kratter, is Fern's best friend. She has a reserved and calm personality, excels at thinking, and has a special life-support implant and a striking eyepatch on her head. Raised by Garee and Maree, she gets swept up in the mysterious starship journey along with Fern.
▼ As the calmest and most analytical member of the group, she's the brains of the operation. The eyepatch perfectly complements this intelligent image.
▼ The head sculpt recreates KB's unique life-support device on her head. The eyepatch does not have a mechanism to be raised.
▼ Her hair is painted with a gradient effect to represent the light emanating from the life-support device.
▼ She also comes with a backpack and a flashlight. By now, you've probably noticed that the backpacks and flashlights for all four teenagers are completely different designs, right?
▼ Although we don't know why, despite being a student, her outfit has a rather technical-personnel style to it. Our KB is just that cool!
▼ In the show, she may not have many lines, but when she speaks, it's always crucial. I'm sure everyone had a classmate like that back in school, right?
▼ Best friends who ride speeders together (that's right), friendship forever.
▼ The group of four is assembled! Do you all like this youthful and invincible Skeleton Crew?
▼ "Pirate Captain Brutus (Port Borgo)". A Shistavanen space pirate with a werewolf-like appearance, he is skilled with blaster pistols. At the beginning of the series, he leads his crew in a large-scale mutiny against Captain Silvo, becoming the new pirate leader and taking control of Port Borgo.
▼ That werewolf pirate who stunned audiences with his precise shooting in the opening of the first episode has been swiftly brought to life in figure form!
▼ The head sculpt—I don't think I need to say much. All the various beastly features are sculpted with a high degree of exquisite detail.
▼ The coat sleeves and hem have been given a weathered, dirty paint application, and the fabric texture is rendered with intricate three-dimensional detail.
▼ He has a total of five blaster pistols, on his chest and waist, all of which can be stored in holsters.
▼ The five included pistols also have distinct designs. Brutus is basically a gunslinger.
▼ "Bring me Silvo!"
▼ Every single blaster pistol can be held in his hand. The captain is just... so cool.
▼ Look closely, this beast is ruthless. With explosive combat power that clears the field right from the start, if something isn't about to go wrong, it's definitely about to go wrong.
▼ As someone who is caught up with the latest episode, I just want to tell everyone: a pirate's life is a hard road to walk.
▼ And that's all for this latest unboxing report of The Black Series Skeleton Crew. Being able to play with the figures while watching the show is truly one of the greatest joys of being a toy collector. For Star Wars fans who haven't gotten them yet, it's time to make your move! See you in the next unboxing report!
