Jason Momoa, who previously portrayed Aquaman in the former DC Universe, has officially announced his confirmed entry into the new generation DC Universe led by James Gunn. The role he is set to take on is the long-rumored intergalactic bounty hunter, Lobo.

Momoa shared a screenshot of a past interview on Instagram, where he addressed the rumors of him playing Lobo. He told the media that Lobo was a character he collected comics of, and though he hadn't collected in a long time, Lobo had always been his favorite and a role he always wanted to play because he was "the perfect character." He added that if "they" (referring to DC Studios) called him to play Lobo, he would "absolutely say yes without hesitation," but he hadn't received that call yet and didn't want to spread false information. He concluded that if they wanted him to act or audition, he would "definitely show up." Momoa then captioned the screenshot with: "They really called me."
