Tabloid outlet TMZ has just reported that director Jeff Baena, known for helming comedies such as "Life After Beth," was found dead at his home at age 47. On Friday morning at 10:30 AM PT, police and fire officials responded to Baena's Los Angeles residence after his assistant reported the incident. Baena was pronounced dead at the scene, with the cause of death ruled a suicide. The motive behind his decision to end his life remains unclear.

Baena's filmography primarily consisted of comedies. He co-wrote the screenplay for "I Heart Huckabees" with acclaimed director David O. Russell, later focusing on writing and directing several of his own projects. His wife, Aubrey Plaza, known for her quirky and deadpan comedic screen presence, met him through their work. The couple collaborated on "Life After Beth," "The Little Hours," and "Spin Me Round," finding a strong creative synergy in their shared comedic sensibilities.
