Xbox Cloud Gaming Expands to Smart TVs: App Rollout Kicks Off 2025

Microsoft Xbox, which has consistently prioritized digital gaming and a cross-platform strategy to enable players to enjoy games anytime, anywhere, recently announced it is bringing its cloud streaming service, Xbox Cloud Gaming, to LG smart TVs, allowing players without an Xbox console to enjoy Xbox titles.

According to Microsoft, starting this year, LG TV users will gradually be able to download and install the Xbox application from the platform, allowing them to play hundreds of games from the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library via cloud streaming.

These games include Obsidian Entertainment's upcoming role-playing game "Avowed" and the critically acclaimed "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle."

Additionally, Microsoft stated that the Xbox application will support a new feature allowing players to stream Xbox games they already own, even if those games are not part of the Game Pass library. Currently, over 50 games meet this criterion, enabling players to enjoy their purchased titles without a Game Pass subscription.

However, to use this service, players must still subscribe to an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan. They will also need a compatible LG smart TV. Microsoft stated that more detailed information, including which LG TV models are compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming, will be announced in the coming months.
