Speaking with GI.biz, Newzoo analyst Emmanuel Rosier noted that while the gaming market constantly evolves, Rockstar Games has consistently led trends with innovative experiences, setting new industry standards. He suggested that "GTA 6" is poised to become another landmark title upon its release.

Rosier further elaborated that "GTA 5" achieved massive success by launching into the mature markets of the PS3 and Xbox 360. In contrast, "GTA 6" is set to arrive in the latter part of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S console lifecycles, presenting both new opportunities and challenges.

"Rockstar Games has a history of creating genre-defining titles," Rosier stated. "Even though the gaming market has increasingly been dominated by live-service games in recent years, 'GTA 6' has the potential to break through this trend and even redefine the open-world genre."

Naturally, discussing live-service games brings "GTA Online," which remains active today. While Rockstar Games has yet to announce its plans for "GTA Online" after "GTA 6" launches, the long-term success of the former leads to widespread speculation that "GTA 6" will likely include some form of online mode.

Piers Harding-Rolls, an analyst at Ampere Analysis, suggested that even with "GTA 6" arriving on new-gen consoles, a significant number of players would likely continue playing "GTA Online" on older platforms. He noted that balancing the experience across both new and old platforms presents a challenge for Rockstar Games.

While "GTA 6" is slated for a Fall 2025 release, many industry insiders remain cautious about its on-time delivery, given Rockstar Games' history of delaying major titles over the past decade. Nevertheless, "GTA 6"'s arrival is undeniably set to be a monumental event for the gaming industry, bringing profound impacts to both players and the market.
