Following the first release, "Cyborg Alien," Megahouse's "Occultic Soft Vinyl Collection" series, which brings popular anime Dandadan's UMA characters to life, is now launching its second installment: "Turbo Granny (Maneki-neko)"! Priced at 5,500 JPY, it is scheduled for release in June 2025.
Turbo Granny, a yokai from Japanese modern urban legends, is depicted in Dandadan as a powerful jiba-rei (earth-bound spirit) lurking in the tunnels of Seino City to appease the vengeful spirits of young girls. She can run at incredibly high speeds, and it is said that anyone she overtakes will be cursed. After cursing Okarun and stealing his "balls," she was sealed into a Maneki-neko doll by Seiko, assisting Okarun and Momo in their search for the missing "balls."
The "Occultic Soft Vinyl Collection Turbo Granny (Maneki-neko)" stands approximately 15 cm tall, faithfully recreating Turbo Granny's appearance after her consciousness was transferred into a Maneki-neko. She even dutifully extends her little paw in a beckoning gesture! In addition to her somewhat smug expression, details such as the "千万両" (ten million ryo) gold coin on her chest and the paw pads on her hand are meticulously reproduced. It also comes with a fabric cushion as a bonus, making it indistinguishable from an ordinary Maneki-neko at first glance, isn't it?
