Japan's official Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, has announced that the latest event-exclusive product from Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, the "HGAC 1/144 Wing Gundam Zero [Clear Color]", will be available for sale starting January 25, 2025.
The XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero is the prototype for all Gundam mobile suits in the Gundam Wing universe. After developing the Tallgeese, six scientists, including Doctor J, improved upon its flaw of being uncontrollable by ordinary humans and pursued extremely high combat performance, ultimately designing the Wing Gundam Zero around A.C. 180. This mobile suit features armor made from "Gundanium Alloy," which possesses high impact and heat resistance, and is equipped with the "ZERO System" to stabilize the pilot's physical and mental state. Its main armament, the "Twin Buster Rifle," boasts astonishing power, capable of destroying a space colony with a single shot at maximum output. However, possibly due to immature technology at the time or drawbacks of the ZERO System, the data for this mobile suit was sealed for a long period, and it was not officially produced and deployed in combat until A.C. 195.
The "HGAC 1/144 Wing Gundam Zero [Clear Color]" is a modified version of the regular kit released in 2014. All red, blue, yellow, and white armor parts have been replaced with clear molded colors. The dark gray parts for joints and weapons, like previous clear color products over the years, feature a shimmering metallic particle texture. This makes it more convenient for special customization techniques such as lighting or glow-in-the-dark paints, presenting a style distinct from regular Gunpla.
Aside from the outer box and part molding colors, the contents are essentially the same as the regular version. The color-correcting stickers used on the wings, rifle, and shield also retain their original colors. The Wing Gundam Zero main body is rendered in 3D based on its TV anime design, offering intricate details and flexible articulation at 1/144 scale. The "Twin Buster Rifle" features a separation and combination mechanism to recreate its signature firing pose, and the "Neo-Bird Mode" can be reproduced through transformation and partial part replacement.
