CDPR Addresses Sweet Baby Inc. Partnership, Talent Exodus Rumors: "We Only Recently..."

As development news for "The Witcher IV" gradually emerges, the highly anticipated RPG has become a major topic of discussion among players. However, concerns have arisen regarding the design of the game's protagonist, Ciri, with some players questioning whether the game has fallen victim to "DEI (Diversity, equity, and inclusion)" principles, fueled by rumors of a partnership with Sweet Baby Inc.

Addressing these rumors, CD Projekt Red Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski stepped forward to clarify the situation, not only denying any association with Sweet Baby Inc. but also refuting another rumor concerning internal talent attrition.

Michał Nowakowski responded to a user's comment on his X (formerly Twitter) account, emphasizing, "We are not working with Sweet Baby, only recently heard about them. Also, we have not lost any top developers."

Previous reports had suggested that CDPR was facing challenges with senior talent leaving the company for "The Witcher 4" development, even leading to a switch to Unreal Engine 5 for the new title. However, these claims were inaccurate and unverified.

In fact, CDPR had stated their reasons for adopting a new engine technology well before the game's first teaser trailer was released. The studio aimed to avoid expending additional effort and time maintaining their proprietary REDengine, preventing future titles like "The Witcher 4" from encountering issues similar to those experienced with "Cyberpunk 2077." The "Phantom Liberty" expansion for "Cyberpunk 2077" marked the final use of REDengine.

Despite the ongoing controversies surrounding "The Witcher 4" and some players not fully accepting Michał Nowakowski's statements, the game remains a highly discussed topic within the player community. As development progresses, whether CDPR can deliver a satisfying product is a key focus for both the industry and players alike.
