The robot-themed action figure series "ROBOT Damashii ver. A.N.I.M.E.", released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Z Gundam", the "Act Zaku (Augusta Research Lab Specification)", scheduled for release in June 2025.
In the setting of "MS-X", the sequel to "Mobile Suit Gundam MSV", the Principality of Zeon secretly launched the "Pezen Project" on Planet Pezun at the end of the One Year War to develop new weapons and reverse their disadvantage. Among these, the MS-11 Act Zaku was a legitimate successor developed from the MS-06 Zaku series. It retained the Zaku's exterior while applying magnetic coating to its joints to reduce friction, thereby improving overall mobility. It also adopted a new engine and beam weapons for superior combat performance. However, it did not have time to help Zeon overcome its predicament before the end of the war. After the war, it was taken over and operated by the Federation Forces, making a brief appearance in the "Mobile Suit Z Gundam" anime.
The "ROBOT Damashii Act Zaku (Augusta Research Lab Specification) ver. A.N.I.M.E." is a modification of the regular version released in 2020. The entire unit's color scheme has been changed to the deep blue Earth Federation Forces colors. It features a refined sculpt that closely matches the anime's design sketches, and meticulously designed movable joints. With mechanisms such as the pull-out joint in the neck, built-in movable axes in the chest and shoulders, and double joints in the knees, it can achieve remarkably natural poses.
In addition to the original beam rifle, bullpup machine gun, beam saber, and large heat hawk (activated/deactivated), a new 120mm Zaku machine gun Kai has been added. It also includes newly sculpted weapon-hanging parts, allowing three different guns to be mounted on the rear skirt armor. Only four clear yellow beam effect parts are included, but it is also compatible with separately sold items such as the "Effect Parts Set 2 ver. A.N.I.M.E.".
