Japan's GOODSMILECOMPANY, building upon its Nendoroid series which has released over a thousand characters, is launching a new product in its blind box series "Nendoroid Surprise" (ねんどろいどさぷらいず) themed after the popular anime "Bocchi the Rock!" — the "Nendoroid Surprise Bocchi the Rock!" blind box figures. The suggested retail price per box is 1,800 JPY, with an anticipated release in September 2025!
"Bocchi the Rock!" is a four-panel manga series created by Japanese manga artist Aki Hamaji, which was adapted into an anime by CloverWorks and aired in 2022. The story follows the protagonist, Hitori "Bocchi" Gotoh, who dreams of forming a band and constantly practices guitar, but her social anxiety prevents her from achieving this. One day after school, by chance, she meets Nijika Ijichi, who is struggling to find a guitarist for her band, and thus joins "Kessoku Band." Together with bassist Ryo Yamada and Ikuyo Kita, they begin their musical activities, and Bocchi gradually confronts her social anxiety.
This "Nendoroid Surprise Bocchi the Rock!" blind box series features Bocchi and the members of Kessoku Band as mini character figures, approximately 7 cm tall. It includes six types: Bocchi, Nijika, Ryo, and Kita in their school uniforms, as well as Bocchi looking distressed in a maid outfit from the culture festival in anime episode 11, and Bocchi freezing to death in an ice bath from the beginning of anime episode 2. Each box comes with a clear A-type stand and one random themed accessory. The themed accessories include 18 small items such as Bocchi's computer, the "Ripe Mango" cardboard box she wore during her first performance in episode 1, and the Kessoku Band logo. Toy collectors can try their luck collecting and pairing these with the adorably proportioned figures!
