Japanese model company Kaiyodo (KAIYODO) will release a new product in its "MEGA SOFVi" series, which produces large soft vinyl collectibles, featuring the movie "Gamera 2: Attack of Legion" – the "Gamera (G2)" soft vinyl figure. The Gamera soft vinyl figure from "Gamera 2: Attack of Legion" is a work crafted by popular kaiju sculptor Yuji Sakai, who personally conducted detailed research on set during the film's production in 1996. Released as a soft vinyl model kit back then, it captivated countless fans and is considered one of Sakai-sensei's classic works.
This "Gamera (G2)" soft vinyl figure utilizes today's most advanced 3D scanning technology, digitizing the original model and outputting it via 3D printing. The original 19 cm size has been enlarged to an impressive 32 cm, maximizing the preservation of the prototype's delicate texture while enhancing overall detail. The paint application is fully supervised by Sakai-sensei, achieving higher quality mass production through meticulous, piece-by-piece coloring. This showcases Gamera's intricate biological feel, with fangs, claws, rough skin, and the carapace all exquisitely reproduced, bringing collectors back to the original 1996 masterpiece while recreating his powerful on-screen presence with contemporary technology!
