SQUARE ENIX, Japan, has announced the latest product from its new line of articulated action figures, "PLAY ARTS True," which evolved from the "PLAY ARTS Kai" series. This new product, "Noctis" from the game "Final Fantasy XV," is scheduled for release in September 2025.
The protagonist, Noctis, hails from the Lucian royal family, which has guarded the Crystal for generations and received its blessing, granting them powerful magical abilities. He bears the mission of becoming the 114th King of the Kingdom of Lucis, though at 20 years old, he is not yet mentally mature. At the beginning of the story, he embarks on a journey with three escorts for a political marriage to secure peace, heading to the water city of Altissia to marry Lunafreya, the Oracle of Tenebrae. However, shortly after their departure, he receives news that Lucis has been conquered by the Niflheim Empire. He will then shoulder an even greater mission, unleashing the power of the True King to save a world afflicted by the Starscourge.
The "PLAY ARTS True Noctis" is crafted with an articulated specification, standing approximately 27 cm tall. The articulated body is an improvement based on the "PLAY ARTS Kai" series, featuring new joint parts and hip joint designs. It also eliminates the ratchet articulation mechanism found in previous products, allowing for a smoother and wider range of motion. Furthermore, the eyeball parts now include an articulation mechanism, enabling changes in gaze to match body poses.
The overall sculpting exquisitely reproduces the intricate flow of the hair parts. The jet-black costume style of the Lucian royal family is rendered using various shades of black to express the texture of each garment, with meticulous detailing of numerous zippers, skull embroidery, feather decorations on the boots, and other rich features. Accessories include multiple interchangeable hand parts, a replacement face with red pupils to depict him using the King's power, and his cool one-handed sword weapon, the "Engine Blade," which features precise sculpting and various metallic paint applications to recreate the intricate mechanical structure on its guard.
