SQUARE ENIX Japan has announced the first product in its new soft vinyl figure series, "Polygon Soft Vinyl Figures (ポリゴンソフビ)", based on their popular video game FINAL FANTASY VII. The first item, "Cloud Strife", is scheduled for release in March 2025.
The protagonist of FINAL FANTASY VII, "Cloud Strife", claims to be a 1st Class SOLDIER from the elite Shinra unit. Wielding the massive "Buster Sword," he demonstrates superhuman combat abilities. At the beginning of the story, he is hired by the anti-Shinra organization "AVALANCHE" and participates in multiple Mako Reactor bombing operations. As he interacts with companions like Tifa, Aerith, and Barret, Cloud's initially aloof demeanor gradually gives way to a sense of responsibility, but his fragmented memories, the meaning of the "Buster Sword," and other secrets slowly begin to resurface.
The "Polygon Soft Vinyl Figure Cloud Strife" is based on his appearance in the original 1997 PlayStation version of FINAL FANTASY VII. Standing approximately 15 cm tall, it faithfully recreates his low-polygon, blocky form. His origami-like blonde hair and bottle-shaped arms evoke nostalgic memories for players of the original game. Details such as the printed eye patterns and the color block painting on various parts of his outfit are all reproduced. Simple horizontal swivel articulation is included in the arms, waist, and feet.
