BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced the latest product from the 'HG (High Grade)' series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, known for its diverse range of mobile suits. The 'HG 1/144 Zaku Desert Type Pink Panther Unit', from the theatrical animation 'Mobile Suit Gundam MSD', is scheduled for release in March 2025.
Within the world of 'Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN', the MS-06D Zaku Desert Type was developed by the Principality of Zeon for its Earth invasion operations. It is a modified version of the MS-06 Zaku II, adapted for tropical and desert warfare, primarily deployed on the African front. This unit achieves enhanced mobility through a lightweight body and increased engine output. To cope with high temperatures and sandy environments, it features a cooling tank in its backpack, numerous additional heat dissipation vents across the entire body, and dust-sealed joints.
The 'HG 1/144 Zaku Desert Type Pink Panther Unit' is a modification of the previously released standard kit. Its entire armor parts are molded in a playful pink color, and it includes newly designed water-slide decals featuring the unit number '803' and distinctive red and yellow stripes, perfectly recreating the characteristic appearance of the Pink Panther Unit.
Other specifications remain consistent with the standard version, faithfully reproducing the right shoulder shield, left shoulder armor, head antenna, backpack, and dust-proof leg joints, which differ in shape from the standard Zaku II. It also includes a rich array of armaments such as the M-120AS Zaku Machine Gun, SA-712 Grenade, 3-tube and 2-tube Missile Launchers, and Heat Hawk, allowing for dynamic combat poses thanks to its excellent articulation.
