Japanese brand GECCO (Gecco Co., Ltd.), known for releasing numerous exquisite video game-themed works, has unveiled a new Cthulhu Mythos-themed product – the "Cthulhu Mythos: The Old One Cthulhu" Giant Statue. It has a suggested retail price of 168,000 JPY and is scheduled for release between August and October 2025!
Cthulhu Mythos is a fictional mythological system developed based on the novel world created by Howard Phillips Lovecraft. It depicts ancient and powerful beings beyond human comprehension, symbolizing the infinite terror and unknown of the cosmos. Over the years, it has spawned various distinctive derivative works such as novels, comics, and games, deeply beloved by a vast fanbase.
This "The Old One Cthulhu" Giant Statue is Paul Komoda's interpretation of H.P. Lovecraft's Old One, with lifelike details hand-sculpted by Master Maya Yamaoka. The overall height and width reach an astonishing 40 cm. It features an intricately sculpted, mollusk-inspired biological design, complemented by Master Katsushige Akiyama's exquisite painting techniques. The dense, detailed structure alone evokes a sense of unease just by staring at it! The base is inspired by the ancient sunken stone city of "R'lyeh" in the South Pacific, and features a bust of Cthulhu Mythos creator Lovecraft at the front, capturing his expression of curiosity and doubt, a tribute to the progenitor of the Cthulhu worldview!
As a pre-order bonus, this release will also include a head accessory depicting Lovecraft transformed into a demon due to cosmic horror. Cthulhu fans, don't miss out!
