Casting buzz for the HBO "Harry Potter" series has been circulating since late last year, with several potential actors for key roles already surfacing. Now, two more prominent names have emerged as potential candidates. According to recent reports from renowned entertainment journalist Daniel Richtman on his Patreon page, Oscar winner Cillian Murphy is currently being considered by the production team to play Professor Quirinus Quirrell, the first-year Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Meanwhile, Emmy winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge has reportedly received an official offer to portray Harry Potter's aunt, Petunia Dursley.

Waller-Bridge has not yet formally accepted the role, and Murphy's potential casting is also still in consideration. Interestingly, Murphy was widely rumored last year to be in the running for the new Voldemort. His current consideration for Quirrell would still place him in a role closely connected to the Dark Lord, given Voldemort's past possession of Quirrell's head.

Francesca Gardiner, co-writer of "His Dark Materials," is set to serve as showrunner for the "Harry Potter" series, with "The Menu" director Mark Mylod also involved in helming episodes. The series plans to adapt one book per season, with a total of seven seasons anticipated, and the first season is slated to premiere next year.
