To commemorate the 45th anniversary of the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series, BANDAI SPIRITS' collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has announced the latest product in its "GUNDAM FIX FIGURATION METAL COMPOSITE" series, a highly detailed alloy action figure thoroughly supervised by popular mechanical designer KATOKI HAJIME, in collaboration with the design brand "fragment": the "RX78FRGMT GUNDAM".
As part of the Gundam series' 45th-anniversary project, "Mobile Suit Gundam" is collaborating with Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara, known as the "Godfather of Ura-Harajuku." Under his renowned design brand "fragment," several original design products personally supervised by Fujiwara will be released. A pop-up store, "GUNDAM45FRGMT," will also be showcased at the V.A. concept store in Omotesando, Tokyo, from February 1st to 24th, 2025.
The collaborative product, "G.F.F.M.C. RX78FRGMT GUNDAM," is a modification of the previously released "RX-78-02 Gundam." Standing approximately 18 cm tall, it faithfully recreates the classic mobile suit piloted by Amuro Ray, the protagonist of the original "Mobile Suit Gundam." Its ABS and other plastic exterior armor incorporates KATOKI HAJIME's design style, featuring refined and striking armor separation lines and other intricate details. The joints are crafted from alloy parts, providing both a firm feel and a substantial weight during handling.
The overall gray color scheme is an original design by Mr. Hiroshi Fujiwara, utilizing various shades of gray to articulate the layering of the mobile suit's armor. This not only accentuates the sharp contours and engraved details of the armor but also imparts a stronger sense of robustness and weight. Furthermore, original markings are printed throughout the entire unit, including the model number "RX78FRGMT" for this collaborative machine and the two lightning bolt motif of the fragment brand LOGO.
Weapon accessories include a dedicated display stand, a spare antenna, a beam rifle, two beam sabers, a shield, a Hyper Bazooka, and a Core Fighter, allowing the Gundam to be equipped and posed in various combat stances. Additionally, the product's outer packaging features a design distinct from the standard version, transforming the "V Operation Manual," which details Gundam's operation in the series, into the outer box.
