BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan has officially announced detailed information for the latest product from the new Gundam series anime, 《Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX》, the "HG 1/44 Red Gundam", part of the 1/144 scale Gunpla "HG (High Grade)" series, which boasts the most diverse range of mobile suits. It is scheduled for release in May 2025.
The RX-78-02 White Gundam was originally the latest mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces in Universal Century 0079. However, due to the successful snatch operation carried out by the Principality of Zeon's ace pilot, Char Aznable, this unit, along with the Pegasus-class assault landing ship No. 1 "Pegasus", fell into the hands of the Principality of Zeon. After modifications, it became Char's personal mobile suit, the "Red Gundam". Yet, in an accident at the end of the One Year War, Char and the Red Gundam disappeared... Now, in Universal Century 0085, a mysterious young pilot appears with the Red Gundam in the illegal MS dueling arena, 《Battle Group Showdown》.
The "HG 1/44 Red Gundam" utilizes Bandai's latest color separation, part division, and articulation mechanism technologies to recreate the design style of Ikuto Yamashita from 《Neon Genesis Evangelion》, reproducing the color scheme around the head and body. Thanks to its unique joint design, it can be posed in various flexible and dynamic combat stances. Armament accessories include a beam rifle, beam saber, shield, meteor hammer, and two massive funnels, which can be mounted on the outer sides of the shoulders using support parts.
