BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced the latest product from the new series 'MGSD (MASTER GRADE SD)', which combines MG series technology with SD Gundam proportions. The 'Gundam Aerial' from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is scheduled for release in August 2025.
The XVX-016 Gundam Aerial is a GUND-ARM type mobile suit developed by Shin Sei Development Corporation on Mercury. Its development was led by President Prospera and piloted by her daughter, Suletta Mercury. This mobile suit is equipped with armaments such as a beam saber, beam rifle, and shield. The shield can separate into 11 "GUND-Bits," which can be used not only as remotely controlled all-range wireless weapons ("Funnels") but also connect to various points on the body and the beam rifle, serving as equipment to enhance mobility and firepower. Furthermore, when piloted by Suletta, it can activate an extraordinary high-level "Permet Score," unleashing inexplicable and formidable abilities.
The "MGSD Gundam Aerial" integrates a precise movable inner frame within its SD proportions, utilizing multiple colors such as gray, silver, and clear parts to achieve a high-density sculpt. The head's twin-eye cameras feature a multi-layered structure with clear green on the outside and silver inner frame parts on the inside, expressing even more three-dimensional mechanical details.
The characteristic glowing parts across Gundam Aerial's body when activated now feature an original mechanism with deployable matte black covers. The internal parts, which depict glowing lines, can be swapped between red and blue colors at any time, allowing for the recreation of both the normal red light state and the blue light state when "Permet Score Six" is activated.
The front skirt armor features independent movable axes that can be raised upwards, thereby reducing interference with the legs' articulation in the SD scale. This allows for natural and flexible poses, such as high kneeling.
Weapon accessories include a beam rifle, beam saber, shield, beam effect parts, and more. The hands, which feature connecting structures, enhance the holding power when wielding weapons. The shield also recreates the mechanism of separating into 11 "GUND-Bits," which can be equipped on various parts of the body to reproduce the "BIT ON FORM" enhanced mode, or combined with a separately sold display stand to recreate the Funnel mode.
