Steven Spielberg, the visionary director behind alien blockbusters like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial", and "War of the Worlds", is actively developing his fourth film centered on extraterrestrial life. Universal Pictures announced today that the highly anticipated project will arrive later than expected, shifting its release from May 15, 2026, to June 12, 2026.

While an official title and plot synopsis remain under wraps, the film is confirmed as an original, large-scale production based on a concept by Spielberg himself. The screenplay is penned by David Koepp, known for his work on "Jurassic Park" and "War of the Worlds". The impressive ensemble cast includes Josh O’Connor, Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, Wyatt Russell, and Eve Hewson, who previously starred as Tom Hanks' daughter in Spielberg’s "Bridge of Spies".
In related news, Universal also revealed today that the untitled new film from Oscar-winning "Everything Everywhere All at Once" directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert has been removed from its scheduled release, with no reason provided.
