BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced today the latest product from the "Macross" series' "HG (High Grade) 1/100 scale" model kits: the "VF-31J Siegfried (Hayate Immelmann's Machine)" from "Macross Delta," scheduled for release in July 2025.
The VF-31 Siegfried is a variable fighter used by the "Delta Platoon," a unit belonging to the civilian corporate conglomerate "Chaos" in the series, for escorting the musical group "Walküre." This model is an enhanced version of the VF-31 Kairos. In addition to a rich array of armaments such as anti-air beam machine guns, railguns, and assault knives, it also features a FOLD Wave System and the multi-functional drone "Cygnus," enabling it to perform missions alongside "Walküre," transmitting their songs and calming patients enraged by the onset of "Var Syndrome."
This time, Bandai has utilized the latest technology to produce the "VF-31J Siegfried" piloted by the protagonist, Hayate Immelmann. For the first time in the Macross HG series, insert molding is employed to achieve blue and white color separation on the fuselage and wing parts. Additionally, dedicated decals are included to reproduce the numerous markings on the aircraft.
By swapping some parts, the three transformation modes—FIGHTER, GERWALK, and BATTROID—can be reproduced. The complex transformation structure has been simplified to achieve flexible articulation, while also allowing each mode to closely resemble its design in the setting illustrations. The cockpit canopy can be opened and closed, and is made from a polarized material that changes color depending on the reflection angle.
Weapon accessories include two assault knives. The railguns mounted on both arms can also be deployed forward via movable axes. The beam gun pod mounted on the back can be detached and used as a handheld weapon. Furthermore, two pilot figures, a figure of the heroine Freyja Wion, and a multi-functional drone-shaped display base are included.
A more luxurious "DX Edition" (Reference Price: 8,250 JPY (tax included)) will also be released simultaneously. In addition to the standard kit, it includes a newly drawn "Freyja Wion Double-Sided Illustration Acrylic Stand" and "Freyja Wion Water-Slide Decals" by Chisato Mita (CAPCOM), who was responsible for the character original designs of "Macross Delta."
For those seeking a premium finish for their aircraft model, Bandai is also simultaneously releasing dedicated water-slide decals for this product (Reference Price: 770 JPY (tax included)). These decals feature numerous high-resolution fuselage markings, numbers, and line color blocks, allowing for even finer detail on the aircraft.
