Three years ago, the "Avatar: The Last Airbender" animated series announced plans for three animated films, with the voice cast for the first film revealed last year. Today, Nickelodeon further announced plans for a new "Avatar" spin-off series, "Avatar: Seven Havens," with original series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko returning to helm the project.

"Seven Havens" has been ordered for two seasons, totaling 26 half-hour episodes. The series is set in a world ravaged by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she is the new Avatar, following Korra, but in this perilous era, the title of Avatar only marks her as a destroyer of humanity, not a savior. Hunted by all sides, she and her long-lost twin sister must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization's last strongholds crumble.
