Beyond the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Hemsworth's most successful action franchise is undoubtedly Netflix's "Extraction" series. This IP has already delivered two installments, each generating massive global viewership upon release. A third film has long been confirmed to be in development, but Netflix is clearly not content with just producing Hemsworth-led sequels; the streamer plans to expand the brand with a new spin-off series.

Netflix announced today that it has officially ordered an eight-episode first season of an "Extraction" spin-off series, with French actor Omar Sy, known for "Lupin," set to star. Glen Mazzara, who previously served as showrunner for "The Walking Dead" (pictured above), will serve as the series creator, while film producers the Russo Brothers will continue their involvement in the production.
This spin-off will follow Sy's newly introduced mercenary character as he undertakes a hostage rescue mission in Libya. The characters within the series find themselves caught between warring political factions and pursued by ruthless killers, leading to complex emotional struggles. They are all grappling with internal conflicts and personal flaws, facing choices involving trauma, betrayal, and life-or-death stakes.
