The 'ROBOT SPIRITS ver. A.N.I.M.E.' series of robot-themed articulated finished products, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has announced the latest product from 'Mobile Suit Z Gundam', the 'Guncannon Heavy Type ~Jaburo Base Specification~', slated for release in August 2025.
The RX-77-3 Guncannon Heavy Type was born during the Earth Federation Forces' development of the 'GM Cannon' at the end of the One Year War. Modified from the Guncannon, it removed the Core Fighter system, enhanced all its weaponry, and added heavy armor, aiming to prove its worth in fortress assault operations. However, due to excessively high production costs, only a few units were built before production ceased. Later, in UC 0087 during 'Z Gundam', several Guncannon Heavy Types were deployed for defense at Jaburo Base, painted in a dark blue color scheme and equipped with beam cannons.
The 'ROBOT SPIRITS Guncannon Heavy Type ver. A.N.I.M.E. ~Jaburo Base Specification~' is a modification of the standard version released in 2019, recreating the dark blue color scheme of the Jaburo Base deployed units with new colors, featuring a design proportion reminiscent of anime setting drawings. The mobile suit achieves flexible and natural articulation despite its heavy frame, thanks to designs such as pull-out joints and multi-joints.
Its armaments include a handheld beam rifle, and the grenades equipped on its waist sides and back can be posed in throwing stances with the included interchangeable hands. The back can be optionally equipped with two beam cannons or a single beam cannon featuring an optical precision aiming system. Combined with the included beam effects and thruster effects parts, dynamic battle scenes can be recreated.
