With "Daredevil: Born Again" set to premiere on March 4, the highly anticipated series not only brings back fan-favorite characters like Bullseye, Kingpin, and Daredevil from previous seasons, but also features Jon Bernthal reprising his role as The Punisher, who first appeared in "Daredevil" Season 2. This has fueled excitement among Marvel fans, eager for Bernthal's swift return to his solo "The Punisher" series. However, before a potential new season, Bernthal is reportedly set to appear in another Punisher-related project.
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' Head of Streaming, recently told ComicBook.com in an interview that the character holds significant personal meaning for Bernthal, who has shaped him into an iconic figure. Winderbaum added that he could reveal Bernthal is currently collaborating with Marvel on a television special centered around the character.

Winderbaum's reference to a "television special" describes a single-episode, short-form story, typically under an hour in length, similar to "Werewolf by Night" and "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special." If the Punisher special moves forward, it would mark the third installment in Marvel's series of standalone specials.
In a separate report from Entertainment Weekly, Reinaldo Marcus Green, director of "King Richard," was revealed to be helming the Punisher special, with Bernthal also co-writing the script. The Hollywood Reporter further added that the special is slated for release next year.
