Following the release of "76964 Dinosaur Fossils: T. rex Skull" and "76969 Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops Skull," the Danish LEGO toy company today (25th) officially announced the stunning new creation that was previously leaked online: "76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex"! It is scheduled for release on March 15, 2025, with a suggested retail price of US$249.99.
This set features 3145 pieces. Once assembled, the fossil model measures an impressive 105 cm in length and 33 cm in height. This exaggerated size not only makes the previous two skull fossils seem like mere appetizers, but it's also a space-consuming behemoth that will demand considerable thought from collectors on "how to display" it. According to the official LEGO website, this T. rex fossil is built to a 1/12 scale, meticulously recreating the skeletal arrangement and form with a large number of sand-colored pieces. Furthermore, articulated joints are incorporated in areas such as the skull, lower jaw, forelimbs, and tail, further enhancing playability beyond mere display.
▼ An astounding presence!
In addition to the T. rex fossil itself, which boasts exceptional detail and form, this set also includes a display base with a nameplate and stand, along with LEGO minifigures of the male and female protagonists from the 1993 sci-fi masterpiece "Jurassic Park": Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler. Furthermore, you can discover a hidden Easter egg within the base: a piece of amber that forms part of a dig site diorama.
▼ Can anyone spot Dennis Nedry, who secretly transported the dinosaur embryos out?!
