DreamWorks Animation's long-awaited sequel, "Shrek 5," finally dropped its surprise first teaser trailer today, also announcing its first new cast member: Zendaya, who has risen to global fame in recent years for her roles in the "Spider-Man" and "Dune" franchises. She will voice Felicia, the daughter of Shrek and Fiona.
Other highlights from the trailer include updated, slightly aged looks for Donkey, Shrek, and Fiona, and the Magic Mirror being used like a smartphone, with Shrek endlessly scrolling through various popular Shrek memes – a clever fourth-wall break engaging with fans.

"Shrek 5" is co-directed by Walt Dohrn, known for the "Trolls" franchise, and Conrad Vernon, who co-directed "Shrek 2." The core voice cast from the previous four films — Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, and Cameron Diaz as Fiona — are all confirmed to return. The film is slated for a North American theatrical release on December 23, 2026, just in time for the Christmas holiday.
