From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division, the 'HG (High Grade)' series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, known for its diverse range of mobile suits, today announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam Battlefield Record," the "HG 1/144 G-Line Light Armor Type," scheduled for release in April 2025.
Appearing in the game "Mobile Suit Gundam Battlefield Record," the "RX-81 G-Line" is a prototype mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces at the end of the One Year War to fully mass-produce the RX-78 series Gundam mobile suits. Unlike the RGM-79 GM, which suffered from significantly simplified specifications and reduced performance, the G-Line, while lacking a core fighter system, utilized the same Luna Titanium alloy armor as the Gundam, possessing performance equal to or superior to the Gundam. This unit further inherited the design concept of the 'FSWS Project,' allowing for the replacement of additional armor and weaponry according to mission requirements, including standard armor with balanced performance, high-mobility light armor, close-combat specialized assault armor, and a full-equipped special type that includes all the aforementioned specifications.
The "HG 1/144 G-Line Light Armor Type" utilizes the same G-Line base frame as the Standard Armor Type released last year. Produced with Bandai's latest technology, it features a rich color separation design and flexible articulation mechanisms, meticulously recreating the twin-eye camera design on the head and the details of the short beam rifle. The independent swivel joints in the forearms and pull-out knee joints further enhance the range of motion. It comes with a rich array of armaments, including a general-purpose/high-mobility backpack, beam saber, and shield.
The newly added head antenna and the vermilion light armor equipment are all made with new parts. Thanks to the hidden peg design on the main body's exterior armor, it can be switched between the basic type and light armor type at any time. It also includes the light armor type's characteristic armament, the "Heavy Beam Rifle." Furthermore, accessories include two missile launchers mounted on the high-mobility backpack and a large stabilizer fin, allowing for the recreation of the full equipment form.
