Assassin's Creed Shadows: Main Story Runs 30-40 Hours, Completionists Can Expect 80+ Hours

With March 2025 fast approaching, the highly anticipated, and often controversial, latest installment in the "Assassin's Creed" franchise, "Assassin's Creed Shadows," is set to officially launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.

Despite ongoing controversies surrounding the title, Ubisoft has continued to release new gameplay details. According to Game Creative Director Jonathan Dumont, players will need approximately 30 to 40 hours to complete the main story, while completionists aiming to unlock everything could spend over 80 hours.

Unlike 2023's "Assassin's Creed Mirage," "Shadows" will return to a more expansive open-world setting and inherit RPG elements from titles like "Assassin's Creed Origins," "Assassin's Creed Odyssey," and "Assassin's Creed Valhalla." This promises a deeper character development and exploration experience.

Dumont also revealed that the game's scope will be comparable to 2017's "Assassin's Creed Origins," where the main story took approximately 30 hours, and full completion, including all side quests and unlocks, required around 85 hours.

Furthermore, Dumont mentioned that while "Assassin's Creed Shadows" will introduce additional game modes post-launch, a "New Game+" mode has not yet been confirmed. However, he emphasized that Ubisoft will adapt and expand the game's content based on player feedback, suggesting potential future updates and expansions.

"Assassin's Creed Shadows" is slated for release on March 20, 2025, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
