The popular action figure series 'AMAZING YAMAGUCHI', developed by Japanese model manufacturer Kaiyodo, has announced its latest product, 'Great Mazinger', from the 1974 anime "Great Mazinger", scheduled for release in December 2025.
The 'AMAZING YAMAGUCHI' series is an action figure line overseen by Kaiyodo's renowned sculptor Katsuhisa Yamaguchi. It utilizes the highly acclaimed Revoltech joint parts to provide an extremely flexible range of motion, allowing for dynamic battle poses from the original work with various accessories and effect parts. Following the return-to-origin 'Mazinger Z', the successor machine from the sequel, the great hero 'Great Mazinger', has been released!
'AMAZING YAMAGUCHI Great Mazinger' features a classic, refined armor sculpt by Katsuhisa Yamaguchi, based on the anime's design, with a larger physique than its predecessor, Mazinger Z. The smooth armor surface is finished with a matte metallic coating, conveying a sense of substantiality. The product's greatest selling point is its precise articulation segmentation, incorporating Revoltech joints throughout the body without compromising the integrity of the sculpt. This allows for flexible and powerful poses, mimicking the active muscles of a human body. Some parts also utilize specialized structures without articulation mechanisms to convey the rigid feel of a robot toy.
The product also includes a wealth of weapons and effect parts to recreate Great Mazinger's various famous moves, including 'Thunder Break' fired from the fingers, two sharp 'Mazinger Blades', 'Atomic Punch' (shooting out both fists), 'Great Boomerang' (throwing the chest heat plate), and 'Great Booster' (flight unit mounted on the back). It also comes with a handshake part that links with the previous 'Mazinger Z', allowing for the recreation of the famous scene where the two machines pass the torch in the final episode of "Mazinger Z".
However, because Great Mazinger's chest heat plate is a single-piece part, it had to be segmented in this product to reduce interference with the shoulder joints and arms, resulting in a noticeable cross-shaped dividing line in the center of the heat plate. If this dividing line seems out of place, Kaiyodo is also offering a limited pre-order bonus at its official direct stores (Kaiyodo ONLINE STORE, Hobby Lobby Tokyo/Kadoma stores): the 'Heat Plate (Heat Emission State)'. In addition to its unsegmented, integrated sculpt, it uses clear parts and paintwork to express the internal mechanical structure and a glowing texture.
