Four years ago, The CW greenlit a live-action pilot for "The Powerpuff Girls" series, titled "Powerpuff." The pilot's quality was reportedly poor, leading The CW to consider reshooting it. However, the network ultimately scrapped the entire series, canceling even the reshoot plans.
Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody ("Juno"), who was involved in writing the "Powerpuff" script, previously shared their original story concept for the series. Now, beyond verbal descriptions, an official trailer for the pilot has leaked, offering audiences a dynamic glimpse into the show's initial vision.

Independent media outlet Lost Media Busters recently uploaded the "Powerpuff" trailer they unexpectedly acquired. The trailer's content largely aligns with the previously revealed official synopsis: it establishes Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup as washed-up superheroes who have long since retired. This retirement stems from their accidental killing of Mojo Jojo years prior, a traumatic event that led the Powerpuff Girls to disband and cease their crime-fighting. Years later, when Mojo Jojo Jr., now the mayor, seeks revenge for his father's death and frames Professor Utonium, the Powerpuff Girls are forced to reunite and resume their duties.

Judging by the editing and post-production quality, this footage is likely not a final promotional trailer. Instead, it appears to be a rough cut intended for internal network viewing, production personnel, or perhaps a sizzle reel or demo. The editing lacks the polish of a typical trailer, many visual effects are clearly unfinished, and even the color grading seems incomplete. This suggests it's far from the intended final product, though we are now destined never to know what that final product would have looked like.
