Issued by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division, the "RG (Real Grade)" Gunpla series, which incorporates exterior armor, frames, interlocking armor, and new technologies into the 1/144 scale, has announced the latest product from the "Gundam 45th Anniversary x Hatsune Miku" collaboration project, the "RG 1/144 MS-06S Zaku II [Hatsune Miku Ver.]", scheduled for release in August 2025.
The "Gundam 45th Anniversary x Hatsune Miku" collaboration project, announced in October 2024, finally revealed a wealth of content today on "ZAKU X MIKU Day". This year will see the release of numerous model toys and merchandise in collaboration between the Gundam IP and Hatsune Miku, and further collaborations with Bandai Namco's "Taiko no Tatsujin" and "Gundam EXVS. Series". Additionally, the official announcement today included the collaborative song "Idol Senshi / アイドル戦士 (feat. Hatsune Miku)", which remixes classic theme songs from various past "Gundam" series and incorporates numerous Gundam references.
The "RG 1/144 MS-06S Zaku II [Hatsune Miku Ver.]" is a modification based on the previously released standard version. The kit uses new molding colors such as blue-green, matte black, and grayish-white to express Hatsune Miku's iconic colors. It also includes a limited-edition "Realistic Decal" for this collaboration version, featuring original body markings such as the collaboration project logo, Hatsune Miku's characteristic "01" number on her left shoulder, and the number 39, which is a homophone for "Miku" (future) in Japanese.
Other specifications are essentially the same as the standard version, featuring the integrated "Advanced MS Joint" used in early RG products. It combines exterior armor and power pipe parts produced with precise color separation and part division technology, allowing for the recreation of the full body armor colors with almost no painting required, while also possessing flexible movable joints. Weapon accessories include the Zaku Machine Gun, Zaku Bazooka, and Heat Hawk.
