In late December last year, Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe, officially announced his confirmed entry into the new DC Universe as the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo. Momoa had long expressed his desire for the role, showing enthusiasm multiple times even before the DCEU concluded. Rumors had also circulated since James Gunn took over as co-CEO of DC Studios, suggesting Momoa was already in discussions with Gunn about playing Lobo.
Gunn recently shared a screenshot of a three-year-old conversation with Momoa on social media, reflecting on the day he and Peter Safran were announced as co-CEOs of DC Studios. He noted that Momoa sent him a private message that very morning, marking the first discussion about Momoa joining the DCU as Lobo. Gunn expressed his excitement to see Momoa bring Lobo to life and his eagerness to share it with fans.

In the shared chat log, Momoa's message cut straight to the chase: "Let's f***ing make Lobo." Gunn's reply was equally direct: "Bro, I've been saying for years you're the guy for Lobo, no joke." This exchange clearly indicates that Gunn and Momoa had been secretly planning the character's introduction for quite some time. Lobo is now confirmed to make his DCU debut in "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow," which is slated for a June 26, 2026 release in North American theaters.
