Acclaimed director David Lynch has left behind countless classics, many of which are irreplaceable due to his unique style. However, some of his works, particularly those based on existing texts, offer room for new interpretations. This includes his novel adaptation "Dune," and now, Lynch's other iconic film, "The Elephant Man," is also set to receive a fresh take.

Major entertainment outlets reported today that actor Jack Huston, known for roles in "The Irishman" and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," will direct a new adaptation. Strictly speaking, he isn't directly remaking "The Elephant Man" but rather adapting the story of its real-life inspiration, Joseph Merrick, exploring his life story and severe physical deformities from a fresh perspective.
This new adaptation will not be titled "The Elephant Man," but rather "Joseph Merrick." The plot will primarily focus on the final months of Joseph's life before his passing. Filming is expected to begin in the second half of the year. This will mark Huston's second feature film as a director, following his 2023 boxing movie, "Day of the Fight."
