Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS HOBBY Division today, during the "Tell Me! Gunpla Concierge!! # 256" program broadcast on 'THE GUNDAM BASE TOKYO' channel, for the first time revealed the hidden mechanisms of three upcoming 'SDW HEROES' series Gunpla products: "Captain Quanta GF," "GF Gundam Astrea Type-B," and "GF Gundam Astrea Type-F."
The three new "GF Series" SD Gundam units, scheduled for release on March 22, 2025, were designed by mechanical designer Toshihisa Miyauchi. They are based on the 00 Qan[T], Gundam Astrea Type-B, and Gundam Astrea Type-F from the "Mobile Suit Gundam 00" series. Their foreheads and other areas feature the emblem of their affiliated organization, "SUPER G-ARMS," paying homage to the organization of the same name from the 1990s "SD Command Chronicle" trilogy, and are being called the Reiwa version of "SUPER G-ARMS."
In addition to utilizing numerous transparent green parts to represent the 00 series' GN armaments, each unit also carries large armaments with a specific purpose. This program revealed that these armaments are for combination. The three units, including their main bodies and parts, can be reassembled to form the "General Fortress" form, standing approximately 20 cm tall, making it even larger than the "MG 1/100 Gundam 3.0." The naming convention and inspiration are also derived from "General Gundam" and "Fortress Emperor" in "SD Command Chronicle."
The combined form not only boasts a handsome silhouette but also features a decent range of articulation. However, adhering to the long-standing tradition of the 'SDW HEROES' series, most gold, transparent green, and other areas on the armor, while having sculpted groove sections, lack color separation and will require numerous stickers for color correction. Furthermore, the prototype shown in the program exhibited some parts loosening and difficulty standing after combination, so actual products might require some modification upon release.
