Japanese company SQUARE ENIX has announced the latest product from their game "Final Fantasy XIII," "Lightning," scheduled for release in October 2025. This new series of finished action figures, "PLAY ARTS -KAI- TRUE," has evolved from "PLAY ARTS -KAI-."
Lightning is the protagonist of "Final Fantasy XIII," whose real name is "Claire Farron." Originally a Guardian Corps soldier, she rose up against the government to save her sister, Serah, who had become a l'Cie. The powerful Lightning is somewhat stubborn, highly responsible, and dislikes relying on others. Due to her appearance, which combines the charm of a mature woman with a heroic demeanor, and her incredibly cool action sequences in the game, her popularity ranks among the highest in the series, even leading her to become the face of fashion brand LV Series 4 in 2016.
"PLAY ARTS -KAI- TRUE Lightning" is produced with an action figure specification, standing approximately 25.7 cm tall. The articulated body is an improvement based on the "PLAY ARTS -KAI-" series, featuring new joint parts and hip joint designs. It eliminates the ratchet articulation mechanism found in previous products, allowing for a smoother and wider range of motion. Furthermore, the eyeball parts are newly equipped with an articulation mechanism, allowing for changes in gaze to match body poses.
The overall sculpt faithfully reproduces her in-game appearance. Her pink hair is made with clear parts to create a flowing and light texture, while her dignified facial features combine both beauty and coolness. The costume meticulously details fine wrinkles and expresses the surface textures of all fabric, leather, and metal parts. Her signature red cape is made from fabric with embedded metal wires, allowing its shape to be adjusted to match poses.
Accessories include one interchangeable face part with adjustable eyeballs, nine different styles of interchangeable left and right hand parts. Her exclusive weapon, "Blazefire Saber," comes with two parts, gun form and sword form, which can be chosen for equipment.
