Korean-American director Celine Song, who made a significant splash with her critically acclaimed directorial debut "Past Lives" in 2023, is set to release her second feature, the self-penned, self-produced, and self-directed film "Materialists," this summer. The first trailer for the highly anticipated project dropped tonight.
The film follows Lucy, a professional matchmaker frequently hired by New York's elite. While she falls in love with wealthy Randy, she can't shake her feelings for her penniless ex-boyfriend, John, an aspiring actor who works as a part-time waiter.

The cast marks a significant upgrade from Song's previous work, led by three Marvel stars: Chris Evans, Dakota Johnson, and Pedro Pascal. The supporting ensemble also features Tony Award nominee Marin Ireland, Sawyer Spielberg (son of Steven Spielberg), and Louisa Jacobson (daughter of Meryl Streep), among others. The film is slated for a June 13 release in North America.
