Late last year, rumors circulated that a new wave of "Power Rangers" reboot films and an animated series were in development, with Paramount Pictures potentially taking over production. However, today, The Wrap reported that the new "Power Rangers" reboot is currently planned as a series, with Disney Entertainment securing the production and distribution rights. The series is slated to premiere on their streaming platform, Disney+, with their subsidiary, 20th Television, leading the production.

Jonathan E. Steinberg (pictured left) and Dan Shotz (pictured right), the two showrunners who successfully launched the Disney+ series "Percy Jackson and the Olympians," are reportedly in talks to take on three key roles for this new "Power Rangers" series: writer, producer, and showrunner. Hasbro, the toy giant that owns the "Power Rangers" rights, will also be involved in the development. Casting details and a release date have not yet been announced.
