To commemorate the 70th anniversary of Japan's iconic special effects monster, Godzilla, a collaboration has been announced with Bandai Toys' "Digital Monster" LCD toy series. Today, the official announcement was made for the collaborative product, "Digital Monster COLOR Godzilla 70th Edition," which is scheduled for release in August 2025.
This product is based on Bandai's previously released "Digital Monster COLOR" series, featuring a color LCD screen, a built-in rechargeable battery with USB Type-C charging functionality, and the highly practical "Sleep Mode" for when life gets busy. It also includes a "Backup System" to save monster states and switch between育成 monsters at any time. Furthermore, it can connect with previously released COLOR series devices for cross-over battles between Digimon and Toho special effects monsters.
In terms of appearance, the "Digital Monster COLOR Godzilla 70th Edition" inherits the square body, screen, and button layout of the original Digital Monster device. It will be simultaneously released in two colors: "WarGreymon: G-Corruption Mode Classic White" and "WarGreymon: G-Corruption Mode Original Black." Both versions feature UV printing of the collaboration commemorative Digimon, "WarGreymon: G-Corruption Mode," designed by Mr. Kenji Watanabe. The game software content for both versions is identical.
A total of 34 characters are included in the game. In addition to the original Greymon series Digimon from "Digimon," various Toho monsters from the "Godzilla" series have also been added to the Digital World, including different generations and forms of Godzilla, Biollante, King Ghidorah, Mothra, Mechagodzilla, Rodan, Destoroyah, and more.
Among these, Mr. Kenji Watanabe also specially designed four collaboration-exclusive Digimon for this event: "MetalGreymon: G-Corruption Mode," "SkullGreymon: G-Corruption Mode," "MugenDramon: Type-3 (Kai) Mode," and "WarGreymon: G-Corruption Mode."
During gameplay, players can train by battling various "anti-Godzilla weapons" and raise their monsters by fighting other kaiju. The familiar "Godzilla Theme Song" will play during battles. The results of battles and training will cause fluctuations in "G-Cell Activity," leading to branching evolution paths for Koromon, evolving into a regular Agumon or a form corrupted by Godzilla cells.
