Sony Pictures' third live-action "Resident Evil" reboot recently made headlines when "Wolf Pack" and HBO's "Euphoria" star Austin Abrams was reported to be in talks for a leading role. Today, renowned entertainment journalist Daniel Richtman followed up on his Patreon page, revealing the plot synopsis for this new "Resident Evil" installment.

According to Richtman, the film's protagonist is an unlucky courier tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital. He soon finds himself at the epicenter of an outbreak, battling hordes of mutated creatures to escape. Richtman also noted that Abrams' character is named "Brian," speculating it could be a codename to conceal the true identity, possibly Leon S. Kennedy, or that the character is indeed Brian, perhaps an adaptation of Brian Irons from the games.
This "Resident Evil" iteration is directed by Zach Cregger, known for "Barbarian," and is slated for a September 18 release next year in North America. The production budget is estimated to be under $100 million, with the film reportedly aiming to be more faithful to the original game's survival horror tone.
