Director Bong Joon-ho, currently on a promotional tour for his upcoming film "Mickey 17," took time last night to attend a 4K restoration screening of "The Thing" at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Following the screening, he participated in a Q&A session with the film's director, John Carpenter. During their conversation, an unexpected yet highly anticipated collaboration was spontaneously forged between the two cinematic titans.

During their discussion, Bong Joon-ho mentioned that his next project would be a horror film, outlining his vision for it. Carpenter, upon hearing this, enthusiastically interjected, "I want to score your movie." Bong Joon-ho readily agreed, and the two directors sealed their commitment to collaborate right then and there. Bong Joon-ho assured the audience that their agreement was serious and not just a casual remark.
Public information regarding this horror film is currently scarce. Bong Joon-ho previously stated that it's a story he has been developing since 2001, with key settings including the Seoul subway system in South Korea. Carpenter, renowned not only as a director but also as a celebrated film composer, has personally scored nearly all of his own films. Given his expertise in directing and scoring sci-fi and horror genres, his musical style is a perfect fit for Bong Joon-ho's new horror venture, making this collaboration highly anticipated.
