Sources indicate that Warner Bros. was developing a "Mario Kart"-style racing game, intended to pit characters from its beloved IPs, including "Tom and Jerry" and "Adventure Time," against each other. The project, however, was ultimately scrapped when the studio responsible for it closed down.

The game reportedly received development approval during the early days of the pandemic. It was conceived as a free-to-play online racer, initially targeting consoles, PC, and mobile, before development narrowed its focus to PC. Colin Moriarty, host of the "Sacred Symbols" podcast, stated that Warner Bros. San Diego Studio was at the helm of the project, which faced significant hurdles due to high staff turnover.
Sources suggest the game's internal codename was "Moonlight," though "WB Racers" or "XDR" were reportedly considered as official titles. The development team once comprised over 100 individuals, but the project ultimately failed to see release.

Moriarty revealed that there was significant internal dissatisfaction regarding the project's cancellation, particularly when contrasted with Player First Games, another Warner Bros. studio. He conveyed that some developers felt it was unjust, as Player First Games had been given two chances to launch "MultiVersus," while their racing title never received a single opportunity for an official release.
